Mexican tablet sales surge 60.1% in Q2

Sales of tablets in Mexico soared by 60.1 percent year on year in the second quarter, bucking the global trend and reaching a penetration rate of 20.0 percent of the country's population, according to a report from The Competitive Intelligence Unit (CIU). There are now 23.2 million tablets in use throughout Mexico, with the quarterly sales led by Apple iPads, up 83.3 percent year on year to reach a total of 9.3 million active tablets, followed by Samsung, up 79.3 percent year on year to 6.5 million. Other vendors have seen their sales increase 28.1 percent year on year to 7.4 million tablets.
