Mexican tablet sales up 79% to 14.5 million in Q2

Tuesday 22 September 2015 | 14:09 CET | News
The Mexican tablet market is bucking the global trend, posting a 79 percent year-on-year growth in the second quarter, according to a report from the Competitive Intelligence Unit (CIU). In total, around 14.5 million Mexicans now own a tablet, compared to 8.1 million at the end of Q2 2014, with the penetration rate standing at 12 percent of the population. The report said the popularity of tablets has been driven by an increasingly diversified range of devices and tumbling prices, with the average cost of a tablet falling from MXN 5,284 to MXN 4,513 in the space of a year.
