Mexican watchdog to probe Televisa-Axtel fibre deal

Mexico's telecommunications regulator IFT is looking into the acquisition of Axtel's residential FTTH business by pay-TV giant Televisa, reports Bloomberg, citing a notice published by the IFT's economic competition unit (UCE). Under the terms of the deal announced last month, Televisa acquired Axtel's fibre unit and related assets in Mexico City, Zapopan, Monterrey, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi and Ciudad Juarez for a total of MXN 4.71 billion.
