Mexico amends rules for operators to access electric poles

Monday 15 October 2018 | 11:18 CET | News
Mexican state-owned utility CFE has released a new set of rules governing how telecommunications companies can use the country's network of electricity poles to roll out their cables, reports Telesemana. Under the new rules, operators are required to pay CFE by weight as well as space to access the 11 million-plus electricity posts serving 98 percent of the population. The changes are designed to encourage the use of lighter cables and will take effect on 01 January 2019.
