Mexico breaks up Cablevision-Megacable joint Yoo service

Mexico's Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has ordered pay-TV operators Televisa and Megacable to no longer offer joint dual and triple play services under the Yoo brand. "The ownership and other rights in the Yoo trademark must be registered in full at the Mexican Institute of Intellectual Property (IMPI) either in the name of Grupo Televisa or in that of Megacable Group, but not both," said the regulator. The requirement is the first time a measure of this scope has been established in the Mexican communications sector and the companies now have 32 working days in which to decide
