Mexico ends Q3 2014 with 85.4% mobile penetration

Mexico ended the third quarter of 2014 with 102.2 million mobile users and a penetration rate of 85.4 subscribers per 100 inhabitants, according to the latest figures released by the country's telecoms watchdog IFT. Around 85 percent of users subscribe to prepay lines, while the mobile broadband penetration rate increased by 13.7 percent compared to the previous quarter to reach 44.3 percent. Telcel continues to dominate the mobile telephony market, accounting for 69 percent of subscribers, followed by Movistar with 21 percent, and Unefon and Iusacell with 5 percent and 4 percent
