Mexico hits 71.3 mln internet users, up 5.8 mln in 2017

Mexico reached 71.3 million internet users in 2017, up 5.8 million on the year-earlier result, according to a household IT survey conducted by national statistics agency Inegi together with communications ministry SCT and telecom regulator IFT. Some 63.9 percent of the population aged 6 or over is now online, up 4.4 percent year on year, rising to nearly 85 percent of 18 to 34 year-olds. A total of 17.4 million homes have a fixed or mobile internet connection, equivalent to 50.9 percent of the national total, up 3.9 percent compared to December 2016.
