Mexico overtakes Brazil as largest LatAm pay-TV market

Mexico has finally overtaken Brazil to become Latin America's largest pay-TV market, according to a report from Digital TV Research. Although Brazil has twice as many TV households, the country has been losing pay-TV subscribers since November 2014 whereas Mexico has benefitted from strong adoption of prepaid satellite TV. In 2016, Mexico had a total of 21.0 million subscribers compared to 18.8 million in Brazil, 8.8 million in Argentina and 5.4 million in Colombia. The report adds that Mexico will strengthen its position in the coming years, taking 30 percent of the region's 83.47 million
