Mexico pay-TV subscriptions up 5.5% to 19.2 mln in Q3

Mexican pay-TV subscriptions soared to a total of 19.2 million at the end of the third quarter, a 5.5 percent year on year rise, according to figures from CIU. The figure is equivalent to 58 percent of the population, with sector revenues rising 22.8 percent year on year to MXN 19.8 billion. In terms of content, the report adds that 58 percent of users choose to subscribe to a pay-TV package to watch movies, followed by TV series (52%), news (48%), soaps (39%) and sports (23%). In addition, pay-TV subscribers spend an average of 3 hours a day watching their preferred content.
