Mexico sets 2015 interconnection fees

Wednesday 31 December 2014 | 10:41 CET | News
Mexico's Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) has defined the 2015 rates for interconnection fees between competing networks as part of measures to open up the telecommunications sector. America Movil will be able to charge companies that use its network between MXN 0.005162 and MXN 0.006246. Companies such as Telefonica and Nextel, which are exempted from the measures imposed on America Movil because of their smaller market shares, will be able to charge MXN 0.2505 for mobile calls and MXN 0.004179 for fixed local calls. The cost of SMS termination was set at MXN 0.0261 per message.
