Mexico telecom prices down 2.8% YoY in June

Friday 30 June 2017 | 10:41 CET | News
The price of communications in Mexico fell 2.8 percent year on year in June, with a 7.0 percent drop in the mobile segment helping offset a 4.5 percent rise in pay-TV charges, said telecom regulator IFT, citing the country's National Consumer Price Index (NCPI). The decline in mobile prices is due to ongoing competition between operators such as Telcel, Movistar and AT&T as well as the entry of MVNOs such as Maxcom, Flash Mobile and Megatel in the second half of 2016, said the IFT.
