Mexico telecom revenues to rise 4.7% on World Cup boost

Friday 13 April 2018 | 11:26 CET | News
The Mexican telecommunications sector is set to expand by 4.7 percent this year thanks to the World Cup effect, according to a report from The Competitive Intelligence Unit (CIU). An expected rise in pay-TV subscriptions combined with continued growth for mobile services should push up revenues to MXN 489.4 billion, said the report. Mobile telephony is expected to account for a little over 60 percent of revenues (MXN 274.4 billion, up 5.3% year on year), followed by fixed telephony with 24 percent (MXN 120.8 billion, up 0.5%) and pay-TV with 18 percent (MXN 94.2 billion, up 8.4%).
