Mexico telecom revenues up 2.1% to MXN 445 bln in 2016

The Mexican telecommunications sector is set to end 2016 with overall revenues of MXN 445.3 billion, up 2.1 percent year on year but lower than previous predictions of a 4.1 percent growth, according to a report by The Competitive Intelligence Unit (CIU). A buoyant pay-TV market offset a 2.4 percent year-on-year fall in mobile telephony revenues to MXN 243.3 billion due above all to a 28.5 percent slump in prices resulting from the widespread introduction of flat rate plans.
