Mexico to invest MXN 2.76 bln in telecoms this year

The Mexican government will have invested some MXN 2.76 billion in telecommunications projects by the end of the year, according to the country's president Enrique Pena Nieto. "The creation of a more competitive environment and the opening of the telecommunications sector has resulted in more companies, both national and foreign, investing in Mexico," said Pena Nieto at the presentation of the government's annual report. Around MXN 1.64 billion, some 60 percent of the annual budget, had been invested by the end of June, above all in the country's satellite programme (Mexsat). Increased
