Mexico to launch public consultation on dominance critera

Monday 19 October 2015 | 14:26 CET | News
Mexico's Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has decided to launch a public consultation on the criteria for calculating whether or not a company has dominant status in the country's telecoms and TV markets. The aim is to clarify the criteria to be used by the regulator to determine market dominance by publishing the thresholds beyond which free competition may be affected. The regulator's move follows industry concerns expressed after it decided to withdraw Televisa's dominant player status in the pay-TV market even though it still retained a 62 percent share.
