Mexico to start licensing for new TV channels on 19 January

The licensing process for two new free-to-air channels in Mexico will start on 19 January, according to the timetable of the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT), reports El Diario. So far local TV channels from Veracruz and the northern part of the country, as well as Axtel, Telmex and businessman Olegario Vazquez Rana have expressed an interest in participating in the process. Communications Undersecretary Jose Ignacio Peralta said that an investment of SCT 100 million is required for the development of each TV channel.
