Mexico's Amedi calls for strong measures against Televisa

The Mexican association for the right to information Amedi has called on communications regulator IFT to take efficient and strong measures against Grupo Televisa, which was last week found to have substantial power in the pay-TV market. "The IFT should initiate a process to impose asymmetric measures and enable it to promote, protect and ensure free competition in the pay-TV sector," said Amedi in a statement. Suggested measures to restrict Televisa's dominance include withdrawing the free retransmission of FTA signals, giving viewers free access to the company's signals or content,
