Mexico's Axtel open to mergers and acquisitions

Mexican telecoms operator Axtel has announced that it's prepared to consider M&A proposals with any interested parties after terminating interconnection disputes with America Movil and Telefonica. "The company is attentive to the possibility of taking up opportunities for alliances, mergers or acquisitions that may arise in the context of the new industry dynamic generated by the telecoms and economic competition reform" said Axtel in statement to the Mexican stock exchange. Business daily El Financiero had earlier cited comments made to analysts by Axtel's financial director Felipe Canales,
