Mexico's Axtel open to mergers or acquisitions

Mexican operator Axtel is prepared to discuss mergers and acquisitions with other operators, because it considers that will be the only way to face competition from larger companies, reports Milenio. The director of investor relations of Axtel, Adrian de los Santos Escobedo, said that M&A will accelerate once there is clarity on the secondary legislation and the declaration of dominance that is being issued by the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT). The manager clarified that it has not yet spoken with any company specifically, but acknowledged that there have been approaches.
