Mexico's IFT consults on 10-digit dialling plan

Mexico's telecommunications watchdog IFT has launched a public consultation on its preliminary technical numbering and signaling plans. The main aim of the initiative is to simplify dialling via a standard 10-digit number for both fixed and mobile lines. Additional proposals include the creation of eight major areas for number allocation, administration and routing, as well as simplified procedures for obtaining numbers. The plan also seeks to promote the consultation of geographic portability and zone changes in the portability database to make it easier for providers to determine the
