Mexico's IFT to bring court action against 25% budget cut

Friday 11 January 2019 | 15:05 CET | News
Mexican telecommunications regulator IFT has agreed to bring a court action before the country's Supreme Court against a 25 percent budget cut ordered by congress for 2019. In a statement, the watchdog said the MXN 280 million cut in its annual budget will prevent it from being able to effectively regulate Mexico's telecommunications and broadcasting market, adding that its 2019 budget will be some 37.5 percent less than in 2014 in real terms.
