Mexico's Izzi to increase prices in July

Mexican triple play operator Izzi Telecom, owned by media conglomerate Televisa Group, has announced that the majority of its plans will be subject to a MXN 20 a month price hike starting next month. The operator didn’t reveal the reasoning behind the price rise but local reports have suggested it’s due to the depreciation of the Mexican peso against the US dollar, which was the explanation given for last year’s average price hike of 4 percent. Unlike the mobile telephony sector, where prices have fallen around 11 percent over the past year, the Mexican pay-TV sector saw prices rise around 3 percent last year, above all due to the Mexican peso-US dollar exchange rate.
