Mexico's Megacable to invest MXN 450 mln in Baja California Sur submarine cable

Mexican cable operator Megacable is investing MXN 450 million to roll out a 250-kilometre undersea fibre-optic cable connecting Topolobampo on the coast of Sinaloa state to La Paz in the Baja California Sur state, reports Expansion. The project is expected to last around nine months and will significantly reduce the costs of bringing internet, telephony and pay-TV services to Baja California Sur, which are currently around 40 percent than in the rest of Mexico, said the company. Megacable is working with Huawei Marine to roll out 48 fibre cables with an 8 Tbps capacity at a depth of 3,500
