Mexico's Telcel acquires 3.5GHz concessions from Axtel

America Movil's Telcel unit has acquired another 50MHz of spectrum in the 3.5GHz band from Axtel, doubling its capacity to 100MHz, reports business daily El Economista. The deal for nine WiMAX concessions owned by Axtel was reached in May and has already been approved by telecommunications watchdog IFT, said the report, adding that further information regarding the monetary value of the transaction could be provided before the end of the month.
