Satellite operator Intelsat has announced a contract to provide C-band services on its Galaxy satellites to Mexican media conglomerate Televisa. Under the terms of the multi-year and multi-transponder deal, Televisa will distribute its over-the-air television networks via Intelsat’s Galaxy 16 and Galaxy 19 satellites to DTT stations, reaching many homes throughout Mexico. Galaxy 16, located at 99 degrees West, and Galaxy 19, located at 97 degrees West, deliver broadcast network distribution services across North America.

Televisa said its partnership with Intelsat extended over 25 years and its two satellites provided optimal coverage over Mexico, enabling the diversification it required. They will also support Televisa’s audio distribution networks, data networks and asset monitoring operations across Mexico.
