Microsoft acquiring Parature - report

Microsoft is in the process of acquiring customer service software vendor Parature, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the situation. No further details were provided. Parature sells cloud-based software that helps businesses manage customer service more efficiently. The deal is expected to help Microsoft position its Dynamics CRM contact management application more effectively against vendors such as Salesforce.com and Oracle and illustrates the growing importance of cloud-based sales, marketing and services applications.
