Microsoft confirms Windows 8.1 to launch 17 October

Wednesday 14 August 2013 | 15:30 CET | News
Microsoft has confirmed that the Windows 8.1 update will be available from 17 October (US time). Previewed in June, the new version of the Windows operating system incorporates a number of changes to make it easier to use on computers without a touch screen. It also notably brings back the 'start' button to the Windows OS. The software will be available as a free update for devices on Windows 8 through the Windows Store and be available in retail outlets and on new devices starting 18 October.
