Microsoft grows quarterly revenue, profit

Microsoft posted revenue of USD 18.53 billion for the quarter ended 30 September, up year-over-year from USD 16.01 billion. Its gross margin increased to USD 13.42 billion from USD 11.84 billion, and operating profit rose to USD 6.33 billion from USD 5.31 billion. Net income for the fiscal first quarter was USD 5.24 billion or USD 0.62 per share, up from USD 4.47 billion or USD 0.53 per share.
