Microsoft signs Nokia insurance deal with Kenya Orient

Wednesday 6 August 2014 | 10:36 CET | News
Microsoft has signed a deal with Kenya Orient to provide insurance cover for buyers of high-end and mid-tier Nokia smartphones. Kenya Orient already sells insurance cover to individual smartphones owners, but this is the first deal it has signed with a handset manufacturer. Package ranges from 1.5 percent for a KES 70,000 phone to 2 percent for a device worth KES 20,000. The number of high-end smartphones in Kenya is estimated at 1 million, but is expected to grow four-fold by next year, according to industry regulator Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), Business Daily reported.
