Minister denies plan to extend TV licence to computers

Friday 6 July 2012 | 09:37 CET | News
French budget minister Jerome Cahuzac gave an interview to RTL to deny that the government was considering extending the TV licences to computer screens in homes without TV sets. A few days earlier, the minister of culture and communication, Aurelie Filippetti, said the government could consider making the change in 2013 to ensure more revenues for public broadcasters, including France Televisions and Radio France. The TV licence fee is currently set at EUR 125 a year in metropolitan France and at EUR 80 in overseas territories.
