Mobile apps to generate EUR 1.3 bln in revenues in Germany

Mobile apps will generate revenues of EUR 1.3 billion in Germany this year, up 41 percent from the year before, according to Bitkom, which cited data by market research institute research2guidance. In 2013, the market volume was EUR 547 million. Bitkom general manager Bernhard Rohleder attributed the success of apps to the increasing number of wearables such as smartwatches and fitness trackers. The number of available apps across the five largest app stores has gone up to about 3.7 million, of which Google Play Store accounts for 1.5 million and the Apple app store for 1.4 million. About
