Mobile contactless payment users to hit 300 mln by 2017

Wednesday 4 June 2014 | 08:07 CET | News
The number of consumers making contactless payments via their mobile handsets will reach 300 million globally by 2017, up from 110 million in 2013, according to a new report from Juniper Research. The research also found that many markets are seeded for mobile contactless adoption by increased rollout of contactless cards. These rollouts are accompanied by significant increases in contactless POS terminals, with vendors VeriFone and Ingenico both now shipping the majority of their terminals with NFC (Near Field Communications) as standard.
