Mobilis, Djezzy firm mast-sharing deal - report
Saad Damma, CEO of Algerian operator Mobilis, took advantage of MWC to obtain the greenlight of Jo Lunder, CEO of Vimpelcom, concerning a mast-sharing agreement signed by Mobilis and its competitor Djezzy at the start of the year, Agence Ecofin reports. By sharing its infrastructure with Djezzy, Mobilis hopes to reduce its expenditure and environmental impact while improving its network coverage. The operator also used the conference to enter talks with Ericsson about video compression solutions to improve its data network's efficiency and quality of service. Algeria has a third mobile operator, Ooredoo Nedjma.

Algerian executive greenlights the start of 3G+ services

The executive decree on the final granting of 3G+ licence to three mobile phone operators, namely Mobilis, Ooridoo and Djezzy, was signed Monday and sent to telecom regulator ARPT, announced the ICT ministry. ARPT chairman Mohamed Toufik Bessai said operators would be able to market 3G+ chips before mid-December. Algeria awards 3G licences to all three bidders

Algerian telecom regulator ARPT has awarded 3G licences to the three candidates, Algerie Telecom Mobile (Mobilis), Wataniya Telecom Algerie (Nedjma) and Orascom Telecom Algerie (Djezzy).
