Mobily starts moving operations to AAE-1 submarine cable

Monday 17 July 2017 | 16:16 CET | News

Saudi operator Mobily has started data transfer operations on the submarine cable AAE-1 (Asia, Africa and Europe), the longest submarine cable in the world. This will support the country’s capabilities to transfer high capacities internationally, and to be an international link point for data transfer between Europe and the Far-East.

The cable extends over 25,000 kilometers and links the Far-East countries from Hong Kong through East Asian strategic countries such as; Malaysia and Thailand, and connecting them with India and Pakistan via the Arabic Gulf States (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, and Oman) then to African Countries (Djibouti and Egypt) reaching Europe (Greece, Italy, and France) with the lowest possible delay and the high transfer capacity of more than 40 Tbps.

The new continental submarine cable (Asia, Africa, Europe-1) received the latest chemical and mechanical layers designed to protect it from the dangers of cutting and damage.
