Monopoly Commission wants more German mobile competition

Tuesday 13 May 2014 | 17:11 CET | News
The chairman of Germany's Monopoly Commission has called for more competition in the German mobile market. In an interview with the 'Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung' newspaper, Daniel Zimmer said that he expected the EC to demand wide-ranging requirements for the proposed takeover of E-Plus by Telefonica Deutschland to ensure that competition is not harmed. Zimmer believes that the EC should demand that Telefonica presents a buyer for a significant part of the business operations to ensure that a new 4th operator appears in the market.
