Morocco adds 1.74 million mobile phone users in Q1

Morocco's mobile phone user base grew by 6.86 percent to 27.05 million in the first quarter from 25.31 million at the end of 2009, according to telecommunications regulator ANRT. Net additions rose to 1.74 million in the first three months of the year, compared to 233,000 adds in the fourth quarter of 2009 and 700,000 in the first quarter of 2009. Morocco's mobile penetration rate stood at 85.82 percent at the end of March. Maroc Telecom (IAM) boosted its mobile market share by 2.01 percent to 15.58 million users, Medi Telecom increased its share by 7.88 percent to 10.18 million and Wana
