Most German viewers watch TV via satellite

The majority of the German households (17.28 million) receive television via satellite, which has reached a market share of 45.5 percent, while cable TV ranks second with 16.10 million households and a 42.4 percent market share, according to the Astra TV monitor study 2019 carried out by the Kantar Tns research institute. IPTV recorded a slight increase in 2019 of 300,000 to 3.08 million household. The number of homes receiving terrestrial television fell by 370,000 to 1.52 million.
