Movistar Chile introduces eco rating for phones

Thursday 2 March 2017 | 13:56 CET | News
Movistar Chile (Telefonica) has announced the introduction of environmental ratings for the smartphones sold via its online store. All phones available will be given an 'Eco Rating' of 1 to 5 to reflect the device's environmental impact over its lifespan. Ratings are calculated on the basis of a number of factors ranging from the raw materials and packaging used to charger efficiency and ease of recycling. Samsung's Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are the highest-rated handsets currently available, having both been given the top Eco Rating of 5.0, said the operator.
