Movistar Chile to begin charging for excess mobile data

Movistar Chile (Telefonica) will begin automatically charging its mobile users for excess data use starting in December, reports business daily Diario Financiero, citing unnamed company sources. Previously customers were allowed to continue surfing for free at reduced speeds, a situation that resulted in numerous complaints, according to the company. "Once their data has been used up, subscribers will receive an alert indicating their consumption and offering them a choice of bundles to continue surfing," said Movistar.
