Movistar Mexico partners with Televisa, Telcel, Huawei

Friday 21 April 2017 | 10:33 CET | News

Movistar Mexico (Telefonica) has reached new strategic partnerships with local media giant Televisa, Telcel (America Movil) and China’s Huawei to strengthen its presence in the country, reports business daily El Financiero. The roaming agreement with Telcel will allow Movistar to launch 3G-based services in over 500,000 smaller localities throughout the country, while the deal with Televisa will give Movistar subscribers access to the Blim OTT platform at a discounted rate. In addition, subscribers to Vas a Volar plans above MXN 570 a month will be given free access to Blim’s catalogue.

The deal with Huawei gives customers the possibility to store data in the Chinese company’s cloud. Movistar’s postpaid clients will be given 5 to 10GB of free cloud storage, said the report.
