Movistar targets 1,200 new antennas under rural franchise

Tuesday 18 August 2015 | 18:16 CET | News
Movistar Mexico is looking to deploy 1,200 antennas under its rural franchise programme, for an investment between USD 20,000 and USD 50,000 per site, reports El Financiero. According to Mariano Moral, director of New Business at the operator, the expansion will include 2G and 3G services in areas with a population of 5,000 to 10,000 inhabitants. He added that, so far, the operator has deployed across the country 150 antennas under the rural scheme, which sees the operator share the costs of deployment with local franchise operators.
