Movistar, Telcel disconnect 1.2 mln inactive lines in Q1

Mexican mobile operators Movistar and Telcen have disconnected nearly 1.2 million inactive subscribers during the first quarter of the year, according to data from research firm The Competitive Intelligence Unit (CIU). According to the report, Movistar disconnected a total of 1 million inactive subscribers while Telcel disconnected nearly 200,000 subscribers in the first three months of the year. Iusacell recorded the highest annual growth in lines in the quarter, amounting to 8.5 percent. Iusacell reached a market share of 7.9 percent in Q1, mainly through the growth of mobile broadband
