Movistar Uruguay ends Q1 with 1.84 mln mobile customers

Telefonica's Uruguay unit saw its first-quarter revenues reach EUR 59 million, which represents a decline of 12.8 percent year-on-year. In local currency, revenues increased by 4.6 percent. OIBDA stood at EUR 24 million, down from EUR 30 million in the year-earlier period. OIBDA margin decreased to 39.8 percent, from 44 percent in the first quarter of 2013. Capex totaled EUR 5 million in the first quarter of 2014, down nearly 83 percent from EUR 28 million in the year-earlier period. The operator's mobile subscriber base was almost flat year-on-year in the first quarter at 1.84 million users.
