MPs oppose head of new BBC governing board

UK MPs are expected to call for the chairman of the BBC's new governing board, Rona Fairhead, to be stripped of her post because the government did not follow a proper appointments process, reports The Telegraph. The culture, media and sport committee will publish a report on 02 August calling for the appointment to be reviewed by an independent body. Fairhead is currently chairman of the BBC Trust and was confirmed in the role of head of a new board after Prime Minister David Cameron intervened and stopped former Culture Secretary John Whittingdale from opening the post to a public
