MTC says investment at threat from spectrum delay

Namibia operator MTC has warned its planned investments in extending mobile broadband to rural areas are at threat due to delays in allocating the operator new spectrum. In a statement, MTC said it plans to invest NAD 1 billion in expanding its 3G and 4G network, but can't go ahead without additional radio frequencies. It has been in talks for two years with the regulator CRAN about the spectrum. A proposal gazetted in October 2015 did not raise any public objections, the operator said.
