MTN Nigeria adds 1.7 mln users in H1 despite March sales ban

MTN Nigeria added 1.7 million new subscribers in the first half-year ended 30 June, expanding its subscriber base by 3.0 percent to 58.4 million. Increased regulatory pressures, changes to the SIM registration platform and the ban on the sale of SIM cards for the month of March affected performance during the period. MTN Nigeria said it remained focused, however, on providing value-driven, segmented offerings and continued to invest in its network.
