MTN Rwanda complies with new legislation to finance universal medical service

MTN Rwanda says it has complied with new legislation for financing universal health coverage through Community Based Health Insurance (CBHI), called Mutuelle de Sante. In July, the government gazetted a Prime Minister's Order establishing various sources of revenue to subsidise the scheme. Among other things, the Order established a 2.5 percent levy on annual telecommunication compan turnover for the first two years, rising to 3 percent in the third year and thereafter.
