MTN Rwanda internet speeds hit by EASSy cable disruption

MTN Rwanda warned of possible internet speed inconsistency because of disruptions to the East Africa Cable System (EASSy) between Djibouti and Port Sudan. MTN Rwanda said 80 percent of its traffic is through the EASSy cable, which is also linked through Tanzania and it is facing challenges in offering bandwidth to full capacity. CMO Yvonne Manzi Makolo said the company has channelled all traffic through an alternative route through Uganda and that the company managing the EASSy cable has dispatched a vessel to fix the problem.
