MTN Rwanda signs RWF 50 bln syndicated loan with local banks

MTN Rwanda has signed a RWF 50 billion loan with a seven-year tenure with a syndicate of local banks. It is to fund MTN's capital expenditure programme for this year until 2020 for expansion and modernisation of the network and related IT systems. MTN CEO Bart Hofker said that the investment is driven by the year-on-year growth of MTN's customer base by 26 percent, growth in voice minutes by 51 percent, and growth in data traffic by 155 percent and mobile money users by 54 percent.
