MTN Rwanda starts cross-border mobile money transfer service

Friday 14 August 2015 | 09:10 CET | News
MTN Rwanda has introduced its cross-border money transfer service to Uganda. Initially, the service will be one way only, as MTN Uganda waits to get the necessary approvals from the Bank of Uganda to let its own users send money to Rwanda. To send money to an MTN Uganda mobile money, users should dial star 830 hash and follow the prompts. MTN and Airtel had announced plans to start cross-border mobile money transfers among Northern Corridor states Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda in November in 2014.
